About Sweet & Savory Classroom
Sweet & Savory Classroom is a Christian-run cooking school in the SOHO Building at 45 E. Main Street in Chattanooga. The door is around the back. Married chefs Jeff and Heather Pennypacker run it. Jeff trained at Johnson and Wales and was a chef at the Biltmore Estate for seven years. Heather was pastry chef at Deerpark Restaurant on the Biltmore grounds for over twelve years and has made well over 1,000 wedding cakes.
The calendar covers a lot of ground: Thai Cooking, Korean BBQ, Hibachi, Ramen, Taste of Spain, Greek Mezze & Wine and Beef Wellington. Seasonal baking includes Bûche de Noël and gingerbread houses. Classes are built so everyone takes part, and you eat what you cook.
Families are well served. In Parent/Child classes, one adult and one child share a ticket. Homeschool Essentials sessions on weekday afternoons cover things like sourdough and pecan pie. Date nights are priced per couple, with menus such as Duck à l'Orange and ravioli from scratch.
