Cookshop

Cookshop is a cooking school and small kitchen shop at 2625 SE 26th Avenue in Southeast Portland. Founder Meredith Mortensen holds a Patisserie Diploma from Le Cordon Bleu in London. She was pastry chef at Carafe Bistro and taught baking and pastry at the Art Institute of Portland. Adult classes gather around a kitchen island, mostly on weeknights from 6 to 8, with some weekend morning baking sessions.

A rotating group of local chefs teaches. Chef Fabi leads Mexican nights such as Molé Poblano and sopes. Chef Devin runs Sushi 101, Chef Luca teaches laminated dough for croissants, and Chef Marco covers fall risotto and a Middle Eastern mezze night. Nikki Arcé of Camellia Vegan Patisserie teaches vegan macarons. Many classes are marked gluten free or vegetarian friendly, and ingredients come from local farms.

Kids matter here too. There are after school classes, The Teen Table, and no school day camps. Groups can book private events. Cookshop holds a 4.7 Google rating from 20 reviews.
