Global and Hill Country cooking classes with wine at the Fischer & Wieser farmstead
Fischer & Wieser is the Fredericksburg specialty food company that grew out of Mark Wieser's 1969 roadside peach stand. It started the Culinary Adventure Cooking School in 2016 inside the historic Das Peach Haus on its farmstead at 1406 S US Highway 87. The classes share the grounds with the company's shops, wine tasting, Dietz Distillery and lodging.
The public calendar leans global and seasonal. Upcoming classes range from Taste of Nepal, with dal and Himalayan comfort food, to a Lao brunch, a Japanese breakfast, Sushi Night and a Tour of Tokyo with ramen and gyoza. Local roots show up in the Bohemian Brunch with kolache and klobasnek, a Thanksgiving quail feast and a gingerbread workshop. Every public class includes instruction, a demonstration, a full meal, wine and recipes. Most cost $100 to $125.
Private groups of four or more can book a hands-on class for up to 12 people, or a demonstration dinner or wine-paired private dinner for up to 24. Private events need three weeks' notice.
