Schola is an independent cooking school in a waterfront kitchen at Lighthouse Point in Canton. Owner Chef Amy von Lange runs it with Chef Andy Thomas. Classes are hands-on and usually last 2.5 to 3 hours. Everyone sits down at the end to eat what they made. It's BYOB with stemware provided, and parking in the gated lot is free with three hours of validation.
The calendar leans Italian. Options include Making Pizza & Pasta, Pasta Workshop II and an Italian Sunday Supper of eggplant parmesan, meatballs, handmade pasta and cannolis. Date nights are a big draw, with menus ranging from a Classic Steak House to Thai. You'll also find knife skills, sushi, soup and chili workshops, holiday pies, and wine evenings with Old Westminster Winery and Bryn Mawr Vineyards.
Most classes cost $70 to $95 per person. Kids classes like Kids Break Donuts & Waffles run too, and the kitchen books out for birthdays, showers and corporate groups. Schola holds a 4.6 Google rating from 93 reviews.
